ETA‑IL — New Entry Rules for Israel from 2025

Planning a trip to Israel in 2025? Starting January 1, travelers from visa-exempt countries, including Ukraine, must obtain an ETA‑IL — an Electronic Travel Authorization required for all tourism or business visits.

    What is ETA‑IL?

ETA‑IL (Electronic Travel Authorization for Israel) is a digital permit that allows short-term stays in Israel for up to 90 days. Previously, Ukrainians could board a flight and go. Now — permission first, flight second.

    Who needs ETA‑IL?

    ✅ Required for:
Citizens of Ukraine and other countries with visa-free agreements with Israel.
    ❌ Not required for:
    Holders of valid Israeli visas,
    Israeli citizens,
    Diplomatic or service passport holders,
Transit passengers not passing border control.

How much does it cost and how long is it valid?

    💸 Fee — 25 NIS (~7 USD)
⏳ Validity — Up to 2 years or until your passport expires.

    When should I apply?

You must apply at least 72 hours before your trip, but earlier is better. Additional checks may take more time.

    What’s the application process?

    • Fill out the application form on the ETA‑IL website (in English)
    • Pay with a bank card
    • Receive confirmation by email (usually within minutes, up to 72 hours)
    • Keep the confirmation — it may be checked at the border
Without ETA‑IL, you won’t be allowed to board — even if you’re past the duty-free.

❓ FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

    1. I’ve visited Israel visa-free before. Do I need ETA‑IL in 2025?
Yes. Even if you had previous smooth trips, starting January 1, 2025, ETA‑IL is mandatory for Ukrainian citizens.
    2. Can I work in Israel with ETA‑IL?
No. ETA‑IL is only for tourism, business, short-term courses, or visiting relatives. For work, you need a separate work visa.
    3. What if I’m denied ETA‑IL?
You can apply for a regular visa through the Israeli embassy. We can help you prepare the documents correctly.
    4. Do I need to print my ETA‑IL confirmation?
It’s recommended to carry a printout or a PDF on your phone. It may be checked at boarding or border control.
    5. How long is ETA‑IL valid?
Up to 2 years or until your passport expires. You can use it for multiple trips.
    6. I’m entering Israel via land (e.g., from Jordan). Do I still need ETA‑IL?
Yes. ETA‑IL is required regardless of how you enter — by air, land, or sea.
