    Long-term residence — Work Permit Card
    Conditions and required documents for applying for a work permit card.

    Important information for applicants officially employed in other EU member states except the Czech Republic, or who have residence and work permits in another EU member state (e.g., Poland), and are sent by their foreign employer to the Czech Republic.

    Documents:

    • Work permit application form.
    • Valid foreign passport, issued not more than 10 years ago, with at least two blank pages; passport validity must be at least 3 months after visa expiry; passport must not be damaged.
    • Two identical photos matching the current appearance of the applicant.
    • Document confirming accommodation in the territory of the Czech Republic.
    • Employment contract, agreement on work activity or agreement on future contract (in this case, both original and notarized copy are required; original is returned immediately), where parties commit to signing an employment contract that guarantees the foreigner’s monthly salary not less than the minimum wage; weekly working time must be at least 15 hours. The document must be in Czech with a notarized translation if in another language understandable to the applicant.

    Other documents:

    • Documents confirming professional competence for the job (nostrification not required on application; original and certified copies recommended for authenticity check).
    • Work permit, if required (note: certain categories of foreigners like partners or statutory bodies in companies are not eligible to apply even if they have a work permit).
    • Document confirming exemption from work permit under §98 Employment Act; if for regulated professions, proof of qualifications required.
    • Criminal record certificate from Ukraine (full). If applicant resided over 6 months continuously in another country in the last 3 years, certificate from that country may be required. Name change certificates if applicable.
    • Work permit requirements under law No. 435/2004 Sb.:

    For foreigners employed by foreign legal entities sent to the Czech Republic under contracts with Czech entities; seasonal workers up to 6 months per calendar year with at least 6 months break between contracts; interns up to 6 months; temporary employment for persons up to 26 years under exchange programs.

    Important information:

    Entry visa for residence permit issuance valid for 6 months, with allowed stay in CR up to 60 days. Within 3 working days of entry, applicant must apply to Ministry of Interior for residence card issuance. Permit issued within 60 days.

    Valid residence permit allows stays in other Schengen countries (except CR) up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

    Documents must be issued within 180 days except passport, vital records, photos if current.

    All documents must be in Czech or officially translated; Ukrainian documents require notarized translation, no apostille needed.

    Applicant must pay fees if applicable.

    Processing time up to 60 days, 90 in special cases; 30 days for “Leading and Scientific Personnel” program.

    Work permit card valid for the contract term, max 2 years; if issued with work permit, validity equals permit term.
